Hot and Heavy Burlesque
Vancouver producers Brie Tannica and Charlotte Strudel are returning March 7th for a third show along with a cast of all fat burlesque performers.
Burlesque is and has always been a political art form. This particular burlesque show directly challenges fatphobia as well as ableism, racism, ageism and classist biases in the arts. In an industry where those with varied bodies (especially fat folks and those with disabilities or non-white backgrounds) were historically erased, this show celebrates the contributions of fat performers.
Our diverse and vibrant cast this year features host Mx. Pucks A'Plenty from Seattle, one of the top 50 Influential Burlesque performers in the world for the past 5 years running. Pucks has also been voted Performer of the Year in 2022 by Seattle Gay News and was a Pride Grand Marshall in 2023.
We are also welcoming Rosie Bougeoisie from Montreal in their British Columbia debut, Obscura Fox from Portland, and a slew of local performers including the Heavy Duty Dance Collective, a group of 18 fat dancers under the direction of Ash Kearns.
Hot and Heavy Burlesque is a registered non-profit arts production company who invests all of their revenue into creating accessible and uplifting burlesque.
