Drag, Drama, and Local Makers: Bard Pride Night Returns to Sen̓áḵw/Vanier Park on July 31
Pride season in Vancouver is all about connection, celebration, and community—and on Friday, July 31, Bard on the Beach is bringing all three to the waterfront.
Bard Pride Night is back, transforming the Bard Village in Sen̓áḵw/Vanier Park into a festival of queer joy, local artistry, and world-class theatre. Whether you are a Shakespeare devotee, a fan of bold new theatrical experiments, or just looking for a fabulous night out under the tents, this year's lineup has something for everyone.
The Pre-Show Festivities Start at 5:00 PM
Make sure to arrive early. The Bard Village gates open at 5:00 PM to kick off a packed pre-show celebration:
The Queer Artisan Market: Browse and support local 2SLGBTQIA+ artists, makers, and entrepreneurs. The market will be open before the shows and during intermission, making it the perfect spot to pick up unique handcrafted goods.
Live Drag: Catch a high-energy pre-show drag performance by local favorites What the Frock Productions (performing right before The Merry Wives of Windsor).
Pride Photobooth: Grab your friends and strike a pose at the Pride-themed photobooth to capture the night.
Choose Your Theatrical Adventure at 6:00 PM
At 6:00 PM, the main stage lights go up. Ticket holders can choose between two incredible productions:
The Merry Wives of Windsor: A hilarious, high-energy, nostalgic comedy packed with physical humor and heart.
Goblin:Oedipus: A bold, dark, and utterly unique take on a classic tragedy, seen through a wonderfully chaotic goblin lens.
"Bard has always been about bringing people together through the joy of storytelling, and Pride Night is a beautiful extension of that tradition," says Christopher Gaze, Founding Artistic Director. It’s a perfect opportunity to gather, celebrate, and enjoy the diverse voices that make Vancouver’s queer community so vibrant.
