QMUNITY’S Next Chapter: A New Home

QMUNITY’s Next Chapter: A New Home for Queer, Trans, and Two-Spirit Communities

After more than four decades at 1170 Bute Street, QMUNITY is preparing for a major move. In early 2027, BC’s leading queer, trans, and Two-Spirit resource centre will open the doors to its new home at 981 Davie Street, a 13,000-square-foot, fully accessible, purpose-built facility that will anchor the 2SLGBTQiA+ community in the heart of Vancouver.

Since 1978, QMUNITY has been a lifeline for queer people across BC. Its programs have offered support, counselling, and connection in a small and aging space that has served the community well but no longer meets its needs. The new centre represents both growth and recognition—creating room for expanded services and making visibility and accessibility central to its design.

The move is part of QMUNITY’s campaign, It Takes a QMUNITY, which aims to raise $3.2 million to furnish and complete the new facility. So far, the organization has secured $1.2 million, with community members invited to help bring the project to life through donations, partnerships, or by joining the Founders Circle. Supporters can also have their names etched into the new building’s donor wall as a lasting mark of gratitude.

The new centre is more than just a building. It’s a message to every 2SLGBTQiA+ person across BC: You belong here.
