Ghost Tours and Haunted Trolleys

It’s no secret to anyone who knows me that Jude loves Halloween, the time of year when the veil between the living world and that of those that have passed on is at its thinnest! And nothing does the season better than tours and events that happen outside. In the dark. Under dark clouds and a full moon! What’s On Queer BC features queer events or events where you’ll find a lot of queers, but be warned, the ghostly events listed below may not be all queer. Even so, you’ll enjoy creepy stories, eerie alleyways, and opportunities to convene with the Ghosts and Goblins of Vancouver. I’ve been on ghost tours in New Orleans - so fun! and San Francisco on Halloween. So this scary season, why not GET OUT and take in some local myths and legends.

The Lost Souls of Gastown Tour

In a dramatic retelling of Victorian Gastown’s earliest stories, you’ll uncover tales of deadly fire and smallpox. Do not expect a ghost tour, the Lost Souls of Gastown is a unique performance-theatre experience. Tickets run $32-35.

I found this one on EventBrite and it looks like there are only two tours planned for October. But do check them out! Tickets are $31.
Vancouver Haunted Halloween Trolley Tour
This event promises a 2 hour guided nighttime trolley tour of Vancouver recounting Castelanni Milkshake Murder, Lady in Red, Stanley Park, Mountain View Cemetery. I’ve not heard of it nor seen the trolley before, but I really hope it’s legit because it looks amazing. There are 2 tours daily starting on Oct 9. At $75, it’s a bit pricey but check them out. Someone on Reddit recommends the tour and notes that you do get off the trolley and do a bit of walking here and there.
Playland’s Fright Night

No listing of scary outdoor activities in October would be complete without Playland’s Fright Nights. The shadows are alive with haunted houses that drag you into worlds of pure dread – cursed graveyards, rotting factories, and mansions where the dead do not rest. Most scary perhaps are the actors hired to roam the compound as ghosts and gouls, vampires and well … you get the picture. Admission looks to be $41, and entry is for 13+
