New Musical SIGMA ACAPELLA Brings Comedy and Community to Presentation House Theatre
Vancouver stage production SIGMA ACAPELLA brings an original musical narrative to the Presentation House Theatre in North Vancouver this November. Created by Rushed Productions, the show delivers a story of unlikely alliances, unexpected camaraderie, and shared purpose.
Fighting Injustice Through Art and Song
Set against the backdrop of a university campus, the storyline centers on a sudden "renoviction" targeting campus clubs and societies. The event forces two distinct groups into an unexpected partnership: the infamous "Fratboy" Ray Rhiner (played by Nathan Mannion) alongside his house, and "Theater Dad" Oliver Keaton (played by Blake Sartin) leading an underdog theatre squad.
The resulting story combines comedic run-ins, cultural exchange, and romance as the groups join forces to save their shared spaces.
Written by librettist and lyricist Annahis Basmadjian and composed by Samuel Gillmore and Sebastian Ochoa Mendoza, SIGMA ACAPELLA features a live band and a diverse ensemble of multi-talented artists.
“SIGMA ACAPELLA achieves two goals: A place for audiences to have a good time, laugh, cry and sing, AND a story centering damage, evil, greed and anger in the world today, and the process of fighting back with truth, art, beauty and healing,” says producer Annahis Basmadjian. “Making art is an act of rebellion, pure and simple.”
